Recently I was able to get one from Amazon at a good price so I jumped it.This switch, unlike a lot of Linksys products are made of metal * *. It is very sturdy and relatively small - not much higher than the plugs themselves. It has no fan and runs only slightly warm to the touch .... Each port on this device is now capable of uplink, not just a door "with a button" as the title suggests. For me it was a pleasant surprise as I have several Ethernet cables are designed for uplink and with this option, I use them every time I have because of automatic registration of all 16 ports.I really like the LED and wires coming-out on the front. The performance of the devices at the consumer level is to put the cables on the back. This does not work for me, as I have my "network center" in the basement and all cables from the front approach (compared notes, is how to connect professional team is built and the fact that also evokes the Netgear uses your energy level user teams) Anyway, I've been using this switch easily to a couple of months. It works like a switch should be: without thinking. Only works.Mike Dec. 12 people found this review helpful. Low cost, works well for lschofield I wanted to upgrade my home network from a central 10M/sec built into the Router to a switch 100M/sec. Probably could have gotten a product with 8 ports, but I have some means of wiring a patch panel and I want to walk to the basement and the patch around as I moved around the house. This 16-port version that seemed a good way go.The product is a very different style than I have other Netgear products (not that I cared). It is small, a profile not much higher than the candles too, and the case is very sturdy and solid, with no fans, no noise. My only negative comment is that I have a standard 19-inch rackmount are preferred, but others prefer to condense in this case more. It fits easily on a shelf, or you can mount on the wall with screws on the end result underside. And - home network much faster! This would be a good solution for anyone with a larger network wired home or small office, or someone who holds LAN parties are. 16 ports will connect many people! 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Netgear unethical not honor warranties Tractor Technology The equipment is OK. I mean, it's really hard to go wrong, for it is only one switch. The problem is Netgear will not honor the lifetime warranty should. The worst thing is that they put you on hold forever, you bounce technology (I'm sorry, are called "engineers" - an insult to the royal engineers everywhere) And the next you say the problem is the software (even the light is still illuminate this software, which had a thunk it) and try to bill for the premium subsidy rate. When this was refused, they hung up. So yes, Netgear stuff can seem like a bargain, but be prepared to replace it on your own nickel when it fails (mine lasted 8 months).
