I have 5 of them...worst mistake I have made in many years. Ports lock up only way to get them back is to reset the switch all 48 devices go offline (really bad), the printers come back well enough, but then the phone calls from users telling me they can't connect to network resources and my SOP.. logoff or restart your machine. The network traffic monitor (LOL) I turned it off ... Spoke with tech support numerous times, please check firmware updates, please check cables and so on.. Soon I will have to eat the bullet and tell my boss we have to replace them. Maybe I can tie them all together and use as a boat anchor or maybe get a tax deduction and contribute them to the artificial reef project! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. factory is defective By Guevara Caporella Victor I purchased a few months ago. After a few days of being online, any large amount of traffic on the switch will cause it to start dropping packets like crazy - our up/down network monitor go nuts with timeouts. After this happens, attempting to connect any new devices to the switch fails. The lights light up on the switch, but in the GUI the port is inactive and although the machine connected can tell there is a link, no data will pass through the port. This situation can be resolved by rebooting the switch (terrible solution). Definitely not ever buying or recommending these again - go for the real Cisco stuff, or choose another brand... 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. AVOID this switch unless you want problems By reasonable person We have had this product slightly more than a year (just out of customer support period...wouldn't you know) we have to reboot the unit ranging from once a day to once a month for the following two problems. 1) the switch will turn itself into a hub, not a switch, i.e., it will begin to broadcast ALL traffic to ALL ports. Just try to keep your network secure when your switch is sending everyones IMAP requests to every machine on the network 2) the switch decides to simply shut down ports until it is rebooted.of course cisco has discontinued the switch rather than fix the problems so no firmware updates are available to resolve these issues.AVOID THIS SWITCH See all 5 customer reviews...
