Connect the Wireless N Dual Band Router to a cable or DSL modem and provide high-speed Internet access to multiple computers, game consoles, and media players. Create a secure wireless network to share photos, files, music, printers, and more, from greater distances throughout your entire home or office. With D-Link's award-winning QoS engine that prioritizes time-sensitive online traffic, this router enables smooth Internet phone calls (VoIP) and responsive gaming. Dual Band Advantage Dual Band is two Wi-Fi networks in one router. The dual band technology in the DIR-815 supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless signals simultaneously. You can check e-mail and browse the Internet using the 2.4 GHz band while playing games and streaming HD movies on the clearer 5 GHz band. This prevents both signals from getting overloaded and avoids interference and lag. Advanced Network Security The Wireless N Dual Band Router supports the latest wireless security features to help prevent unauthorized access, be it from over a wireless network or from the Internet. Support for WPA and WPA2 standards ensure that you will be able to use the best possible encryption method. In addition, this Wireless N Dual Band Router utilizes Stateful Packet Inspection firewalls (SPI) to help prevent potential attacks from across the Internet. Powered by Wireless N technology, this high-performance router provides superior coverage designed to reduce dead spots for users who demand higher performance networking. Delivering unmatched wireless performance, network security, and coverage, the DIR-815 is ideal for networking in larger homes and offices. What's in the Box Wireless N Dual Band Router, 2 detachable antennas, CAT5 Ethernet cable, power adapter, CD-ROM with installation wizard and product documentation Get Ready for the Future: IPV6 Equipped With the growing number of Internet-enabled applications requiring IP addresses, the supply of IP addresses under the current Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) system has already been exhausted. The IPv6 protocol solves this network addressing exhaustion by creating more IP addresses, but migration from IPv4 to IPv6 is not necessarily automatic. No worries--this D-Link product is IPv6 Certified and ready for the future. * Maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications when used with related Wireless N 150 devices. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate. Environmental factors will adversely affect wireless signal range. Wireless range and speed rates are D-Link RELATIVE performance measurements based on the wireless range and speed rates of a standard Wireless G product from D-Link. Maximum throughput based on D-Link Wireless N devices.

Hawk If you've used a Wireless N router that doesn't have a separate G receiver, you'll be aware of the throttling that occurs when you're trying to use your uberfast N connection at the same time a G devices is accessing the router. Not ideal for households that have multiple devices of different bands. I went from a Netgear G series router to this, and it's night and day. File transfer of 9GB via wireless N took 14 minutes - all the while I was able to surf the internet and stream video with zero lag - couldn't even tell I was sending anything other than my HD churning. Range is good, and multiple devices of different frequencies can connect with no bog or lag. Previously it seemed that more than 2 devices connected to my old Netgear would cause a network slowdown. Tons of features, the QoS and media streaming features are great too if you have a file server that you wirelessly stream video to your TV (which I do) - HD 1080p video is streamed with no lag, and again, no performance hit on web surfing at the same time. Super happy with this - runs cool as well, has cool power and security options (i.e. you can set it to turn wireless on at a certain time, so it's off all day when your at work) - tons of stuff. Buy it. Edit: Speed tip - for some reason these are set default (at least on firmware 1.0 which is all that's out when I'm writing this) @ 20Mhz for WMM (Wireless Multimedia)- set this to 20/40Mhz (Auto) and it is bit more snappy. Also for streaming, enable Multicast. If you want to see all the features, Dlink has an emulator setup, just Google DIR-815 Emulator, and you'll find it. Second edit: Another review mentions he is unable to setup two separate SSID's for a G, and an N network - I have not had this problem, and do indeed have two separate SSID's, so my N's connect to the N's, and my G's connect to my G's. I should also mention this will NOT speed your internet up in anyway - seems to be some confusion about that. I suppose if you had a 20/30Mbps pipe to your house it would make a difference, but that's fairly rare - most residential services are running 6-12Mbps, which G can handle easily. It will increase your wireless networks range, and your internal file transfer speeds by about 10x, and as I've mentioned, doesn't bog when you're doing multiple things on the wireless channel. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Easy config...poor performance. By R. Nocchi We purchased this router to replace an older Dlink router. I have been using Dlink routers and access points for years, so I am very familiar with (and like) their user interface. We use DSL and have a mix of wireless and wired devices. Our router is set up in the kitchen and we have a wireless access point (DAP-1522) in the living room. As soon as we got this set up we began to have issues. The new Dlink modem and DAP-1522 would not communicate. In addition, our Internet slowed to a crawl and we began to get numerous time out errors. This isn't limited to the Internet either, as trying to connect to the router is sometimes painfully slow. I have spent a few hours adjusting the router configuration to no avail. My next step is to call customer service. My previous experience with Dlink equipment has been all positive. Unfortunately, this router is bucking the trend. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Awesome! By Nick The D-Link DIR-815 is, simply put, awesome. I have it on the top floor of our three-story home and I get a full strength signal in our basement. It has four ports for all your gear and, because it's 802.11n, it broadcasts in both 2.4ghz and 5ghz ranges. The software that comes with the DIR-815 is PC only, but I was able to plug it into my Mac and get it set up with the router's built in web interface admin software. That software will let you do just about anything you can
