Netgear ProSafe 48-Port Gigabit Smart Switch (GS748TNA)

Joining NETGEAR's family of Smart Switches with simple switch management at no extra cost this 1U high 48-port Gigabit switch maximizes bandwidth and density for great value and capability. With 48 10/100/1000 Mbps ports each capable of powering 2000 Mbps of data throughput in full-duplex mode plus four optional fiber ports it provides a 40 Gbps backbone and connects servers or power users delivering large amounts of multimedia image and video information in no time at all. Standards-based it is ideal for combining 10 100 and 1000 Mbps devices as it delivers automatic speed and full/halfduplex sensing plus Auto Uplink on every port. Four hot-swappable Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) GBIC slots provide optional fiber connectivity for greater distance. An intuitive web-browser interface offers simple switch management making it a snap to monitor switch performance configure ports even set up trunks VLANs and prioritization. From Herr_Blucher One thing to watch on these switches - Amazon seems to have stocks of different versions (firmware). Make sure to download and update 3.03 (current) or you'll wonder if you also had the switch on the right. Be sure also to set the switch IP address * before * connecting workstations / printers / etc. .. I was too busy tearing my hair and asked why customers were randomly fall. If I had bothered to read the documentation (again, too much attention to quickly get done), I would have seen that the switches have the same IP address and problems I had was a logical reason - not to diagnose cabling / termination / etc. wasting time. Why it's worth, the characteristics VLAN / trunking are nice additions, and I do not take clients where this is useful, I found useful in my most recent work, where I was about half a dozen cameras IP VLANing disposable income keeps my client network is not segmented and walked. Let's see if the VLAN is working really well in the weeks / days. I am a bit suspicious that a price attached to this level would actually work as advertised with the VLAN function. Hopefully I impressed. Anyway, so far so good. There is a visible improvement in performance over the network age (100 full duplex), with the new gigabit switches and cables. The switches are easy to set up and have no characteristics that were confusing to configure. Simple. No IOS for the program, all web-based and stable. 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. The amazing strength D. Jones I had a 48 gig switch port to monitor a network is already growing. These suits price point and has beautiful, I have this band for a couple of Cisco 3750 metros and it is humming nicely. VLANs, Trunks, and all functions work well. GUI is a bit static - but easy to navigate. The best part is the contact summer (and loud) and forwards the packets as it should. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to add a 10/100 Upgrade to install a bit faster concert down the line. Not sure it is line-rate performance - but hey it's cheap and it keeps the packets flow. I would recommend this highly for both tech installations and those of you speed port aggregation, and offers improvements beyond the basics. 5 of 7 people found the following review helpful. So far, so good for Ed Tech There are a lot of contacts for a small fee. Since the installation is about a month ago, running smoothly. I only have two problems with this purchase: 1) The fans are loud, so it's best in a room somewhere else than where people work installed. 2) I've had no problems before with smaller Netgear switches, they have a tendency to get zapped during a lightning storm (while other manufacturers' switches are not affected) had. Netgear will replace the old one back for shipping, but you have to go through India-based technical support that is trained to make you feel like a stupid idiot and takes about one hour for what should be a 5-minute interviews. All 4 reviews ....
